The transnational project “M-EMO-histoRY” is supported by the programme “Europe for Citizens - Strand European Memory”. The project partners are: the Municipality of Rezekne (Latvia) - Lead Partner, Teatro dei Dioscuri di Campagna (Italy), Kedainiai Regional Museum (Lithuania), Palatul Copiilori in Iasi (Romania). The "Europe for Citizens” Programme aims to raise awareness of the memory, history and common values of the European Union and to promote social commitment, intercultural dialogue and democratic and civic participation of citizens. Lithuania, Latvia, Romania, and Italy were crushed by Nazi, Soviet, and Fascist totalitarianisms and witnessed the extermination of Jewish communities, ethnic and religious minorities, and homosexuals. The project does not simply want to commemorate the events of History, but wants to spread, through a permanent and not occasional performance, the stories of ordinary people: stories of suffering, of death, but also stories of altruism and salvation. A different story takes place in the evocative setting of the “Museo della Memoria - Centro Studi Giovanni Palatucci” in Campagna (from 16 June 1940 to 8 September 1943 Concentration Camp for civilian war internees). Visitors will share emotions and fragments of life of the Jewish internees and relive the great story of solidarity between the internees and the Campagna community, simple and generous in its humanity. Homicidal delirium is always just around the corner, but respect for human life can and must win out over wickedness. Voices, sounds, presences will remind today's and future generations that Campagna was able to overcome indifference and disobeyed unjust laws and lived ’a different story“. The promo video was realised by the ”Teatro dei Dioscuri“ Association, the Italian partner of the project, in collaboration with ”L'officina della Danza", the I.I.S. "T.Confalonieri" of Campagna, the Museum of Memory - "G.Palatucci“ Study Centre and the ”G.Palatucci“ Committee. The narrator is Sebastiano Somma. Theatrical coordination and direction are by ”Teatro dei Dioscuri"; video direction by "Zork Digital Planet". The performance will see the involvement in the coming months of various local organisations, institutes and associations.
